Here is a Small Sample of Actual Dodge, Chrysler Consumer Vehicle Problems and Complaints submitted to our website daily.

|
From R. Armstrong - My parents purchased a 2006 Chrysler 300 in Dec 2005. From the very beginning they had problems with the Check Engine light being on. Within a few miles of leaving the dealership, it came right back on. In addition the battery failed, leaving them stranded and having to have the car towed to the dealer. But the absolute worse came on 7/7/2007 when my parents were in an accident. The speed was about 45MPH when they hit a cement retaining wall. The seat belt shoulder straps failed to hold them in their seats resulting in my dad hitting the steering wheel with his chest, It folded the steering wheel in half. My mother also hit the dash with her face/head when the shoulder belts failed to hold. In addition, NOT A SINGLE AIR BAG deployed in the vehicle. My mother died as a result of the injuries sustained and my father is near death in ICU. ALL THIS IS DUE TO CHRYSLER & THE FAILURE OF ALL THEIR SO CALLED SAFETY FEATURES. My parents purchased that car due to its "safety". They wanted a Lincoln Town Car and now I wish that's what they had purchased. If they had, I am confident that my mother would still be with us. DAMN CHRYSLER!! From B. Smith - I have a 2005 Chrysler 300C and it has a problem with steering. Sometime the car will pull hard to the right and a few miles down the road there is no problem. It may do this several times and then might not for a few days. My dealer can't seem to find or repair the problem. Now it has about 46000 miles and still does it. From Julie - Never in my wildest dreams did I think there was such a website as yours out there but I guess I should have known as I too have experienced 13 problems so far with my BRAND NEW 2007 Dodge Caliber. I've filed Lemon Law which I've come to realize basically means nothing since even if I have to go into arbitration, it seems I won't win a replacement for my piece of crap car. I've heard good things from other Caliber and Dodge owners but after having these problems and reading your website I'm not amused. I have felt like a victim of Dodge from Day 1 and figure I will never be satisfied until I get rid of the car. My dealership is very wonderful, caring and trying to do their part to assist me but it does seem that DaimlerChrysler could care less about customer satisfaction. Thanks for your website. From M. Oswald - We purchased a 2005 Pacifica in February. It has front end vibration which has become worse over time. The dealership won't help us, they say there isn't a problem, contact Chrysler. I found a TSB about this on the internet. We have written letters to no avail. We can't even do the lemon law because the dealership failed to put the vibration problem down on the service paperwork almost every time we had it in. From C. Berry - Yes, I must add my name to the list of suckers who own a Dodge. I have always tried to buy American but after buying my 2005 Dodge Caravan SXT, I will never in life buy another Dodge vehicle. A week after buying the piece of crap the airbag malfunctioned, At 5K it had a recall on the air conditioning system (it could catch fire) Then at 36K the transmission went. It always had a rough shift and acted up when I would slow to stop. Dodge fixed it under warranty and then said this tranny was only under warranty for 12K. Now this tranny shifts rough and acts the same way the first one did. Could it be that they did not replace it at all and gumped the original back together? How would I the consumer know? What happened to the original 70K Powertrain warranty? Next to go was the automatic side door wiring harness burned out. $600 to fix. The muffler started going around 40K. It is still loud but we are living with it. The latest problem was the power steering unit went on it. That was almost $600 to fix. All of this happened under 60k. I guess I will be looking at buying a new tranny soon. Thanks Dodge y'all are a hell of a company. Don't count on me as a loyal customer. I hope they go belly up. From S. Smith - I previously owned a 99 Intrepid that suddenly caught fire. Me and my little sister had to jump from my burning vehicle because there were no brakes. Chrysler investigators looked at my car to only tell me that my car was too burnt for the cause to be determined. Insurance only paid for the remainder of my loan. From S. Alu - I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring convertible with 20,000 miles. My 2.7L engine just blew up due to oil sludge. They are not going to warranty the vehicle and said I had to pay to fix the car. From G McClintock - I own a 2001 LHS and experienced pulling problems and clunking in the front end within the first 15,000 miles. I had three front end alignments (two by DCX dealerships, 1 independent) with no improvement. I found your article on the internet and need to know if this is a valid action against DCX. From K. Uecker - After replacing my tires on my 300C at 15K miles and not getting anywhere with Chrysler service rep's or so called manager, now my butt is burning literally. The seat gets hot. The car still pulls to the right even though I have my dealership rotate tires about every 3,500 miles and check the alignment. The car of our dreams is a dud. It looks cool, rides nice except for the steering, but we have no intention of buying a DaimlerChrysler product again. We buy new every 3 yrs, have had Kia, and Toyota and so far my Kia and Toyota vehicles and dealerships deliver! K. Kozlowski - We recently had a series of trouble with our 2005 Chrysler 300. The vehicle has 21,000 miles on it. The engine light started coming on also the brake light would ding and flash. We were informed by the dealer service department nothing was wrong. 2 days later the engine light came on again - blinking this time - as did the brake light and the sunroof malfunctioned. Brought the car back in again. They replaced a sparkplug - no explanation for the other issues. On Sunday went to use the car and the engine light started blinking again. Thursday we were informed that the engine had carbon buildup up and the valves had to be cleaned. The problem is the "bad gas in the US" We were then informed that we would have to put an additive into the tank (at the cost of $10 each can) every 3rd fill up for the life of the car. We generally trade our cars in about every 1½ years and have owned all makes and models and never before have we heard of such nonsense. From M. Arneson - Glad to find your website, only wish I found it before spending $30,000 on my first Chrysler product. I have owned many GM and Ford products over the years and decided to give the new 2003 Ram HD SLT with the 5.7 Hemi a try. At 511 miles on the engine blew while I idling through a parking lot. I informed the dealer I would only accept a new truck and not a repair. The dealer said the decision would be up to the regional DaimlerChrysler representative. The rep said no. I told the dealer that was unacceptable and amazingly, the dealer agreed and gave me an entirely new identical truck. At that point I was willing to say that truck was a fluke and the replacement truck would probably give me years of trouble free service. I should also mention that I never rev to high RPM's, I change oil about every 2000, and baby them. Then with a total of 3100 miles, that second Ram died 4 times. One of the times while going 45 mph. The final time it died I was in the mountains and 8 miles from a phone. I am back into a Ford and very happy to be back. Sure I could have taken it in to the dealer to see what was wrong, but I guarantee they would not be able to reproduce the problem and nothing would be taken care of. The bottom line is that two different Dodge trucks were both defective with very few miles on them. - Thanks From B. Graham - I have a 2003 PT Cruiser and recently had an accident. The Airbag did not deploy and the Steering Column ended up in my Lap. I called Chrysler Customer Service and was assured that they would have an inspector there in 3-5 days. That was a month ago and to this date my car has not been inspected and the car is not repaired because of the lack of inspection. From L. Smith - I purchased a 2007 Caliber and when I went for an oil change 2 weeks ago and while they were rotating the tires, they came back in and told me the tie rods where going. On Friday I received a phone call that they do not have the parts and it would a week before they could even get the part in so I asked them if they would cover a rental and they said no. I don’t feel this is good customer service. I contacted customer service and they were going to check with the dealership to see if they would do the good will thing and reimburse me for the rental. I never heard anything back. I’m very sorry that I purchased a Dodge. We are in a market for another car for my husband and he wanted another Caliber but has now decided that we will go with a Chevrolet for which my Father is retired from and my brother works for. This is the first car that I have bought that was not a Chevy. I’m so sorry that this has happened. The mechanic at the dealership said the tie rods were so bad, I must have a Guardian Angel . From M. Matwiow - I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport with 34,400 approximate miles on it and have had 2 major parts already replaced. Intermittent transmission and burning and smoking problems that 2 different service departments for Chrysler have not been able to duplicate. I have contacted Chrysler at least two times and they will not take any responsibility for their own product. From L. RaseI - I also have a transmission problem with my 2006 Dodge Caravan. I have had it in to 2 different dealers and have talked to Chrysler. The dealer I purchased from said that there was no problem and the rough shifting "was normal." They said they were not aware of any problem because Chrysler hasn't told them about any problem. It clunks when slowing down and starting up again. I say that's not normal. I've driven since I was 13 yrs. old in 1955 so I think I know what's normal. The second dealer said, yes, there is a problem but Chrysler doesn't know what to do about it, and I would be put on a list if they ever came up with a solution. You know as well as I do that they will never admit there's a problem. I have 3500 miles on the vehicle. It seems to me that a company that has been building vehicles for more than 100 years would know what to do about problems, or know how to avoid them. From L. Dawson - We have 2006 Jeep Liberty: At 5,400 miles we had to replace the front pads and rotors; now at 7,500 miles the rear pads and rotors need replaced. It is ridiculous for a vehicle with this few a miles to have such brake issues. When I contacted our local dealer, they said brakes are not a warranty item, I agree however, with this mileage I feel it needs a closer look. From D. White - My 2001 Dakota with only 48,504 miles had sudden engine failure, Dealer and Chrysler denied my extended warranty claim. They told me that oil sludge caused engine failure although the oil had been changed on a regular basis. the dealer charged me $500 dollars to take the oil pan and valve cover off. They told me that it will cost me $9,000 dollars U.S. to fix the engine. My unusable Dakota now sits in my driveway, while I still pay a $428.00 dollar monthly payment. From S. Green - I just picked up my 2001 300M, with 45,000 miles on it from the dealership after having the rack and pinion replaced for the second time. The first time was at 26,000 miles. I am sure it was just a patch job, although they showed me a warranty claim for $1,300. About 1,000 miles later the clunking noise and sloppy steering returned. I had tie rods replaced, ball joints replaced. I had enough front end work to rebuild the entire front end. I took my car to a reliable small shop specializing in front end work, and owned by a former Dodge mechanic. He told me my rack and pinion was shot. He gave me Chrysler's customer service number. I called and told the Chrysler rep that I have had this horrible clunking noise in my steering since 26,000 miles. I also gave him a history of my dealings with the dealership. The rep then pulled all the repair activity from his computer. He told me that my rack and pinion had been replaced at 26,000. I have no paperwork that says they replaced my rack, only that a sway bar was replaced and multiple other front end parts. He said "Your car is out of warranty, you should have used the avenues available to you while it was still under warranty." I told him the dealership advised me to stop coming to them with this problem, and at 36,000 miles I was told that they would no longer cover anything to do with the clucking noise. My comment to the rep was, "I bought a $35,000 vehicle from you that has needed TWO rack and pinions in less than 50,000 miles. In fact, the first repair job they did lasted only about 1,000 miles. I asked what Chrysler was going to do about it. He said "We'll pay for the new rack, but you need to pay all the labor." It costs me $414.00 today. He said that I should be happy they paid anything because I should have taken out the additional extended warranty. Thanks for this site! I was starting to feel like I must be doing something to have gone through TWO rack and pinions on a car with only 45,000 miles. From K. Wooaol - I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus that has 65,000 miles on it and the oil light is on at idle. I bought it used with only 15,000 miles on it. I have read all the crazy stories about the 2.7 and I'm very worried my motor is going to blow up. I have always changed the oil in it so I could not understand "why." All I can say is I'm going to go back to GM products. Bye Bye Junk this car is out of here. From M. Rankin - I have a 300 Touring I have have problems with my 300 pulling to the right, I have had it in to the dealership they aligned the front end rotated the tires still continues to drift to the right and they tell me that there is nothing they can do about it and that they were not aware of any drift problems. I now have around 20,000 miles on this car and asked them to repair the drift problem according to these announcements TSB # 02-002-05 and prior TSB 02-003-04 yet the local Chrysler dealership has told me that there is no drifting problem with the 300 series obviously a out right lie. Now they tell me, that the above mentioned repairs cannot not be done on my Chrysler 300 touring because the vehicle has more that 12,000 miles on it. If this is the case then the bumper to bumper 3 year or 36,000 mile warranty is another out right lie to me this is unacceptable behavior. I have also had significant problems with the air bag system it is now going back to the dealer for the fourth time concerning the air bag light. And what about my airbag system going in now for the 4th time for the same problem. All I want is a safe car for me and my family to drive and not have to worry about one of us getting killed because Chrysler will not correct known problems instead of having the attitude of let it ride maybe we will get away with and issues TSB after the 300 is either out of warranty or Chrysler has quietly resolved the issues without deaths or damage to its name. From R. Kaminski - Just a note re my 2005 Chrysler 300 Company Car, 2.7L 24V, V6. The transmission "shudders" (feel & sounds like you're driving over rumble strips in a construction site, or on the shoulder of the interstate) when shifting from 3rd to 4th, under most types of acceleration. This car spent 3 of its first 5 weeks at the dealer, and was NOT REPAIRED. Now with 11K miles, I'll be taking it back in for more work. From S. Hughes - 2005 Town & County Touring 12,000 miles. I am the owner of the referenced automobile - It has been in to the dealer to no satisfaction. The car keeps shutting off - while I am driving it - Twice the service manager told me it is a sensor. They replace the sensor, but the engine still cuts off, even while on the highway. I am extremely dissatisfied with this, as I use this car to transport my two children to various school and sporting events. And I am extremely fearful of what will happen if this car's engine should cut off and I am rear ended with kids in the rear seat.
From R.
McKenzie - Have owned a 95 Intrepid since new in 1995, and always
noticed a clunking noise on tight turns. My son now has the car, and I
was driving down the road the other day with him, and the left front
tire just started to shimmy and shake. When we jacked the car up, the
left front tire can be moved back and forth by 6 to 8 inches since the
arm it is connected to obviously broke off whatever it is connected to. From B. O'Bannon - I have a 2003 Dodge Stratus, and it has been in the shop since 2003 for brake problems, motor mounts problems, leaky transmission pan (factory tightened it to tight), spark plugs going bad (engine temp runs too hot to support them, Chrysler knows of the problem) - this was all between 10 -36,000 miles. At 43,000 miles transmission leak, tubes are bad (car has 7year 70,000 mile powertrain that covers the transmission, but not its components) Chrysler's reaction "It's normal. I have had numerous vehicles mostly Fords. I have never had so many problems with any of my vehicles even after I reached my 100,000 mile mark. From Todd C. - Bought a used 2004 Chrysler Town & Country minivan with less than 30,000 miles on it and was almost immediately disappointed. The battery died shortly after also had to replace all the brake pads - none of which was covered by warranty. Then the engine started idling rough so we took it into the dealership for repair. Turns out there was a known defect with the vehicle's sparkplug cables, but instead of replacing them all, they replaced the one bad wire. A few weeks later, another wire went bad and we had to take it back to the dealership. Only then, after complaining about the poor service the first time, did they replace them all. Now the power steering makes an extremely loud groaning noise that we are told will take over $1,000 to repair (again, not covered by warranty). Also, the transmission is beginning to slip and the vehicle doesn't even have 65,000 miles on it. Anybody considering any Chrysler product should read this site and seriously reconsider before they purchase
From R.
Koehn - Re: 2000 Dodge Durango Fatal Automobile Accident From C. Bradford - My son had a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab and the rear axle / wheel hub sheared off. My son, who was driving the truck is facing 1st degree vehicular homicide charges. My son said that he felt his rear end was making noises and felt something was not right and heard a loud pop from the rear end the day the accident happened. He had at the Dodge dealership in Feb. 2007 to check it out prior, but they never said anything was wrong. From D. Paradis - I just found your website and I plan on reading the whole thing. I wanted to let you know that my 2000 Dodge Stratus caught fire yesterday in a parking lot and was a total loss. The interesting thing is when the fire dept arrived one firefighter commented "Dodge Stratus, big surprise." THEN when my insurance adjuster called me she told me that I was the 6th 2000 Dodge Stratus owner who filed a fire claim in the past TWO weeks! And that was just HER caseload! I am a little more than upset. Because it was a fire loss I have to pay for my rental vehicle out of pocket then wait for the settlement to be reimbursed. Even then, I know I won't get enough to buy another car. As a single mom with 2 kids and a handicapped woman who lives with me I don't need this kind of problem. I am astonished that this is happening and consumers are left to pick up the pieces. Even my mechanic said he has heard of this problem with Dodge. I will NEVER buy another car from Dodge, DaimlerChrysler, ever. Thank you for your informative website! From P. Sears - I own a 2001 PT Cruiser and have had problems with the outer tie rod ends being defective at 31,000 miles and I also no have problems with the inners where when reversing and turning the wheel there is a huge clunk. My car now has 72,000 miles and I feel I should not have to deal with this. From C. Colbs - My husband has a New 2003 PT Cruiser base model that is in the shop for the 3rd time. This Cruiser has always ridden a bit rough and has had poor gas mileage. We were told @ approximately 6000 miles (after the car started bucking and misfiring) that a spark plug had failed, this was replaced and the car was returned to us in its original rough running condition. This time they are telling us that some kind of "wiring package failed causing the spark plugs to fail. The Cruiser had begun to run progressively rougher over the last 2 weeks. Last Wed evening the Cruiser had multi system failure while driving @ Highway speed, on the way to the Dealership, during rush-hour. My husband came very close to being run into by several other vehicles. We no longer feel safe driving and commuting in this vehicle. From G. Buck - I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.2. At 14,000 miles it needed a head replacement because the valve guides were out of round and oil was in one or more of the cylinders, we did this twice. Now at 58,000 I am having what I think is steering problems, which include: play in the steering wheel, crunching sounds in the front, knocking sound like a loose shock or strut and the steering is really squirrelly. From B. Schreivogel - I was just writing to add my 2003 Dodge Neon to the list of defective Chrysler vehicles. We bought this car with 19,000 miles on it in 2003. We have had it for about 2 years now and at a total of 44,000 miles. Since it has been in my care it has been immaculately maintained. It is now in the shop in need of a new Transmission. I am pretty forgiving to small problems that arise with cars but such a major problem on such a new vehicle really makes me wonder. From L. Hegle - Keep up the good work. Your information concerning Chrysler's tactics concerning warranty evasion are very accurate. Regards
From M.
Kozloski - While searching for similar complaints to validate my
ongoing problems with a 2001 Dakota truck, I happened upon your web
site. I have been having trouble with this vehicle since new. I have
been complaining to my dealer about clunking, groaning, popping and
creaking noises from the front end. Additionally, I am experiencing
rattling and humming from the steering column at highway speeds, and
when driving over uneven roadways. The vehicle has been in for this
problem no less than 10 times, each of which had various components
replaced while under warranty. The problem has never been resolved. I am
of course out of warranty at this time. My latest trip to the dealer was
for a faulty O2 sensor, and I had them check into the noise From C. Conroy - I bought my 96 Chrysler Sebring about a year ago. This past Sunday my neighbor called me and informed me that my car was on fire. The last time I used it was at 9PM the night before and the fire occurred at 7AM the next morning. The car is totaled. After checking under the hood it's pretty obvious that the fire started in the fuse box under the hood. I also think I know what fuse it is because it's the only one that is completely burned to nothing but the metal inside the fuse. I do have insurance but unfortunately you never get back any where near enough to get another car in equal value. Someone told me of a similar story that happened to a Chrysler 300M so I decided to try and find other problems like this. Chrysler Never Again - Thank You From S. Hardenbergh - I too have been "burned" by Daimler Chrysler. I am the first owner of a 2003 Town & Country Minivan with a 3.8L V6 engine with about 50,000 miles on it and the 7 year, 70,000 mile powertrain warranty. On 6/14/2006, I was driving at approximately 60 miles per hour on the highway and experienced loss of engine power and engine knock. After stopping the vehicle, I checked the oil, it was "FULL" and transparent on the dipstick. I then had the car towed to a "5 Star" dealership. Before any diagnostics were performed, the service manager commented that there had not been any maintenance on this vehicle where they were already setting the stage to "blame the owner". The vehicle was originally purchased in Bergen County NJ, where both my husband and I continue to work where all maintenance was performed. After the diagnostics were performed, the verdict was "catastrophic engine failure due to engine sludge." The cause, "failure to properly maintain the vehicle by the owner". I stated that the oil had just been changed and assured him that proper maintenance had been performed on this vehicle, with the most recent oil change performed 3 weeks before, and that I did have the documentation to prove it. My husband and I forwarded receipts to him with a note that said we were looking for our additional receipts. This document retrieval was made slightly more complicated by 3 moves since the vehicle was purchased. This rep immediately declined our warranty claim stating the familiar "failure to maintain". Bewildered and upset, we reiterated that we did have further receipts. He told us to forward them and he would call the Chrysler Rep back. On 6/20/2006, we faxed all the receipts, documenting oil changes every 3000 miles or so (never more than 3,270 miles) which is exactly what Chrysler recommends for "schedule B" drivers. We changed the oil on this car 17 times in 3 years, 50,000 miles. Not exactly neglectful or abusive. You guessed it, warranty coverage was declined again! What a surprise after reading the testimonials on your website. My husband and I are like most working class people, we do not have this kind of money. We bought this car in good faith and now are finding out the hard way that the manufacturer and dealer will not stand by their product. It is just easier to "BLAME THE OWNER". I wish I had seen this website BEFORE I had bought my car. From Jon DeWald - I just recently bought a new 2005 Durango. On March 28, 2005 my engine light came on and it stalled on me 7 times. Every time I hit the brake it just shuts off completely. So I had to called roadside service to have my truck towed to the dealership that I had purchased it at. They had it for 1 1/2 days and they couldn't tell what's wrong with it so they had to send a request for information from Chrysler to find out what the problem is. So by March 30 they said the cause was the air control motor failure. So I picked it up later that day hoping the car was fixed. Everything seemed find for a couple of days until April 2nd came around. The same problem was happening and this time I was on the highway going about 70 mph almost causing an accident. Thankfully enough I got to the shoulder safely. So here I am with a brand new Durango with only 1800 miles on it and it's broken down twice in one week. So again it's back to the service department and they said they had 7 people working on it this time around. So another 2 days gone by and finally I get an answer. They're saying my whole entire computer (brain) went bad and they have to replace it. I don't trust that car anymore. I just bought this expensive vehicle and they already have to replace this. From D. Johnson - I purchased my 2003 Dodge Stratus in February of 2003. I had to replace two drive belts, air conditioner blower and brake rotors. I am experiencing tapping from my engine, some hesitation and brake noises. I take my car to the dealership for service and I go in every 3,000 miles for my oil changes faithfully and have receipts to show this. My boyfriend also purchased a Dodge Durango right before me and he experienced knocking in the engine. He also changed his oil faithfully as well and he had to purchase another vehicle, of course not from Dodge/Chrysler. From B. Ganger - 2002 Chrysler Town & Country EX - Last Year we bought the above car from a Chrysler dealership. It had about 52K miles and other than that in great shape. Last week the transmission had an issue with my wife and 2 kids in the car. the tranny made a whirring noise it never made before and then went - PING and she lost all drive in the car. When it was towed to a local shop they found 9 codes in the computer including a hydraulic warning. Knowing this can be caused by a plugged up filter in the pan - they removed the pan and looked at the filter. The filter was clean and not plugged up and then they saw the metal shards in the pan. They did notice that the tranny had hydraulic pressure when cold - as soon as it warmed up the pressure disappeared. The tranny needs to be replaced - we have put 10K miles on the minivan since we got it. The tranny fluid was nice and red when checked after it died and was at the proper level. As far as we know the car was well taken car of by the last owner who got maintenance done by the dealership. I have never had a "domestic" car, I have owned 3 Subaru's and 2 Honda's. Only the second Honda had a automatic transmission and at 97K miles - it has never slipped or let us down. I certainly will not be buying another Chrysler product ever again. If I could afford a Honda I would have gotten one of their vans but we just could not afford it. Our shop will be replacing the tranny with a remanufactured tranny that has beefed up parts that will have a 5 year, 75K mile warranty - far better than the Chrysler 3 year, 36K mile warranty. From Chris H. - Thank you so much for putting up this website, I wish I saw it before I bought my 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T. It's been nothing but hell with this car. I've been having a cooling issue for the past 2 years and no one can figure out. Everything has been replaced regarding it! To add insult to injury, It caught fire just a couple days ago because of a faulty window switch! My insurance company is familiar to this and is potentially going to file a lawsuit against Chrysler for the fire and the engine. I hope so. This is my 3rd Dodge vehicle and will be my last. They're nothing but money pits and potential death traps. From J. Brown - Thank you very much for taking the time to put this website together. I wish I had done more research before purchasing my first new car, a 1999 Chrysler Sebring 2-Door Coupe. I too thought that the complaints I had read were from people who didn't care for their vehicles the way that I would. I am meticulous in my record keeping and service to my cars. I am now on my second transmission ($2400/ea. out of my pocket), burning on average 1 quart of oil every 1500 miles, cleaning up black tarry goo that leaks from the doors and too many other problems to list. This is ridiculous! Thank you again for your time invested in spreading the word. From T Palmer - I have a 2006 Dodge Truck and have been noticing a vibration and roaring noise coming from the front wheel areas. I've inspected the truck and found the left front hub bearing making this noise. This truck was returned to the Dodge Dealer for a recall notice about a lack of lube in the wheel bearings. The recall was performed. I returned the truck to the dealer about this same problem. Being this truck has 41,000 miles on it the warranty is expired. I informed the service manager that this should be covered under the recall, but he was persistent about charging me a $97.50 inspection fee. Not once did he say the service fee would be credited to me if the problem was covered. I disagreed with this charge. He couldn't care less so I returned to my home, being that I am a technician with Caterpillar for 32 years, I disassemble the left hub and returned this part to the dealer, I just wanted to show the service manager the failed/defected part, received a few seconds of his time. His statement to me was, I didn't say it (the failed part) wasn't defective part and just walked off. Well I purchased the part for $220.00 return home and installed. Here's the catch. I now have this truck, knowing that I will have to spent another $220.00 for the Right side plus my labor. I will NEVER purchase another Daimler Chrysler product. From K. Spin - We have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring lemon. The rack and pinion went out causing an accident and major damage. Then the starter went out and now the engine has to be replaced. The Chrysler dealer we purchased the vehicle from does not want to take any of the blame for this lemon and they have been no help. From L. Smith - I too have a Chrysler horror story. We bought a 1998 car in 2003 with 52,000 km on it. A few months ago the engine blew on it while on the highway and it has to be replaced. Neither Chrysler or the dealership will do anything about it. I found out that the bottom half of the engine had already been replaced a week before we bought it; however the dealership neglected to tell us this. It is costing us $5800 to fix the car. Thank you so much for your website, I had no idea how many people have been affected by Chrysler, they are truly ruining peoples lives. Thanks again! |
From E.
Kendrick - just wanted to let you know that I have been having
steering related From J. Leitch - I have a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan. The rear brakes keep locking up after I drive it in the rain. After sitting for a few days I can not move the the van. It now has 29000km on it this is the fourth time it has been towed. From L. Johnson - When taking off from a complete stop my 2004 Jeep Liberty hesitates and kicks with a jolt. This happens again when trying to pass. I regret paying the deductible and walking away with nothing as the dealer cannot find a solution. From B. Miller - We purchased our 2005 Grand Caravan SXT brand new. It wasn't even 5 months before we started having electrical problems, steering problems and brake problems. Within in the first year we had it in the shop two times for the same electrical problem but with a different door, once for the steering and another time for the door locks (electrical). We also had to put new brakes on it and new tires. The last time we had it in the shop for electrical problems it cost us almost $300.00. Now I have this vehicle that I'm afraid to drive my children in, because AGAIN my van has electrical problems, the passenger doors don't open half the time and I'm talking manually not opening, the automatic door openers on the van don't work. I have to open the doors with my key. Now when I start the van it makes a noise (the best way to describe this noise is, sounds like when your car is running and you forget but turn the key again, that noise). I'm going to have to bite the big one on a trade in, but I can't put a price on my kids life. I don't understand how these Chrysler dealers stay in business, because we all know that they are aware of these problems but still continue to sell these vehicles. I think that we as consumers need to exploit the local Chrysler dealers, because its clear that contacting the company directly does no good. If this Chrysler can get away with ignoring court orders, and all the problems at hand, then we as the consumer need to let the world know. Maybe I should make some flyers with all the sites like this one and just start putting them on cars, posting in public places.
From G.
Moga - First of all I would like to say that your website is a great
piece of work. From R. Ramos - I’m very concerned over the seriousness of the engine malfunction on my 2007 Jeep SRT8. I was told by the Service Manager that my engine needed to be replaced (blown piston). I feel this problem should have never occurred on an brand new engine with only 12,500 miles and at a cost of $45,500. This is humiliating and completely unacceptable for a flagship product sold by Chrysler under a Street Racing Technology badge. I've maintained the vehicle with the Rockland Chrysler service department and never made any modifications or been negligent in operating this vehicle. I strongly feel that the associated repair and cost substantially impairs the value of the vehicle. Also a leaking transmission found at 12,000 mile service, and Chrysler recall. I had to pay $308.01 for towing the truck from to Chrysler in Nanuet. I feel Chrysler should pay for these charges. I feel Chrysler should provide me with a Car Rental and cover rental costs during the period I'm without a vehicle. From M. Kresha - 2006 Chrysler 300C, when I apply the brakes at higher speeds there is vibration from the rotors. I went to Chrysler dealership in and they did the 15,000 mile service and said my tires were shaving and when they rotated them they got some of the vibration out but it still does it. Every Chrysler product I have bought has had brake problems. My Brother's 2006 Cadillac CTS has more miles than my car and he laughs at me for buying a Chrysler. I like the looks of my car but tired of the problems and brakes. From T. Carrier - I owned a 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 Thunderroad Hemi truck which I bought new. In 2006 I traded the truck and lost an enormous amount of negative equity because the truck had bad rust bubbles under the hood on the tailgate and bottoms of the doors. Dodge basically told me too bad that these areas would not be covered under any warranty. The things they did cover under warranty were the radio which they put a used one in twice. The Ignition switch, heater controls also a front wheel bearing all before 36000 miles also they had to replace the chrome clad 20 inch wheels. This truck got terrible fuel mileage and it also had a problem with the throttle it would cut out going down the road and flash the check engine light and throttle light. Dodge would not fix this. I traded the truck because of what it would have cost to fix the rust. This truck was driven very little in the winter it was not garaged but I did show it a few times so it was very clean and waxed it should not be rusting. From W. Butler - I own a 2006 Dodge Magnum 2.7 V6 Car - On November 23, 2007 my car stopped running and I had it towed the nearest Dodge / Chrysler Dealership. This car has been serviced on a regular basis and I can provide those statements. The car has less than 50,000 miles and the engine needs to be rebuilt/replaced. The dealership has estimated the repairs at $6,500.00 for a rebuild. The car is only worth $10,000 in today’s market and I am still making payments on the car. I would think that Dodge / Chrysler would have built a car that would last for more than 50,000 miles. From L. Lutostanski - I bought my son a 1999 Intrepid with 38,000 miles on it a year ago. It now has just over 43,000 miles and the engine is blown. The dreaded sludge. As I read all of the emails from people with the same experience, my experience is consistent with theirs. We have all been blamed for not maintaining our car. This was a company car with oil changes every 3000 miles. Then it must be the quality of the oil . . . on and on. Only option is to replace the engine at $7000 or scrap the car. Of course the $ 7000 is more than the car is worth. From D. Anderson - I stumbled on your web site today and my mouth dropped wide open reading about the problems with the steering and all the other potential problems with my 1996 Intrepid. I lost complete steering control, suddenly, without warning in August 2002 while driving on I-39 in Illinois going 70 mph. I was fortunate only suffering only minor damage to the auto as I drove off the roadway into a gently sloping ditch. I struck a road marker and came to a bumpy and scary stop. The tie rod bolts had come completely out of the rack. By the grace of God I can write about all this to you today. Only one half mile behind my accident site there is a large overpass which could have resulted in a severe accident and very probably my death. Hard to imagine Chrysler still fails to admit to all these problems. I have owned Chryslers most of my life and well aware of the transmissions problems as I have paid for them in the past but this steering problem supersedes all others when your on the road. Thanks for your website which tells the stories we don’t hear elsewhere. From H. McEwen - I currently own a 2001 Chrysler 300M. I bought the car with 10 miles on the odometer. I have had nothing but problems with this car. At 40,000 miles my 4 disc CD changer/tape player/AM-FM stereo failed and I haven't heard a single note from it in nine months. I was told by the dealer they could replace the stereo with another one at the tune of $450.00 plus $50 for labor. At 50,000 miles my transmission light came on. Transmission felt like it was "slipping", and like it wouldn't stay in gear. By the time I got to the service department it was making a horrendous winding sound, you could hear it a mile away. The next day I was told I needed a new transmission at barely 50K miles. I was then told it would cost me at least $3500, maybe more. Well, I was pissed, to say the least. I was in the process of buying my first home and that would have ate a huge chunk of my down payment so I proceeded to call Chrysler customer service department and complain. To make a short story long, they (Chrysler) said that if I paid the first $950, they would pick up the balance, but the stereo's internal electrical problem was still mine to deal with. So I said okay and I got the transmission fixed - or replaced. they assured me it was "brand new" but as of today I don't think it was. I'm still experiencing shifting problems, sluggishness, and I'm almost afraid to drive anywhere for fear of breaking down. Now, my heated leather seats and my on board overhead digital information center no longer work. Now I'm just waiting for something else to go out. I'm a single mother and I made the decision to buy a BRAND NEW car so I wouldn't have these problems and have nothing but problems. Blue book is now about $15 or $16K. Oh, and did I mention the brakes? They shake and shudder every time I slow down, really bad! AND now I hear a loud "CLUNK" every time I turn the steering wheel to the right. What in the hell is next? I can't afford to keep doing this. Needless to say My Chrysler is a huge piece of junk! I hate this car and I would never buy another Chrysler product as long as I live. From D. Gates - My problem is getting Daimler Chrysler to stand behind a known problem. My transmission in my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 went out completely two days ago with only 66,000 miles on it. Nearly all that being highway miles. I've never even taken the truck off roading. I have a newer vehicle and bought it new, because I wanted something dependable. I'm a Firefighter for the city of Biloxi, MS, and I don't make enough to pay notes and fix major problems on my primary vehicle. When I contacted Daimler Chrysler, I was told "because I have no history at a service department and the 36,000 mile warranty is out "they can't do anything" for me. My friend that works for a Daimler Chrysler Service Department told me that he has a mechanic, as in just one of the many that works there, that has already replaced fifty or more transmissions on Dodge trucks just like mine. This is just in one little city (Wiggins) in Mississippi. This being the case, Daimler Chrysler has got to know that these transmissions, or components dealing with, are defective. Now I'm stuck with having to get it fixed with no help from people who won't stand behind their product. From T. Heilbrun - I am writing this because I now own a 2003 2500 SLT Hemi truck that has a very distinct ticking sound coming from the lifters. Now we all know this is not a desirable sound coming from an engine compartment. I have owned Chryslers from the time I was 15. My first car was a 1971 Dodge Demon 340. I then acquired a 1964 273 Plymouth Valiant and a 225 1963 Valiant. As of now I still own a 1973 Charger 500 with an original 440 six pak and a 600 hp '73 duster with a 340 six pak. The list goes on with my numerous Mopar's so as you can tell I know them inside and out. I rebuilt each one. So as you can imagine when I learned that the Hemi was returned to service I went and bought one. After the first 1500 miles it started ticking badly as though one of the keepers had slipped a notch on one of the valve stems. I brought this to the attention of the dealer and I was given a bunch of BS excuses and the runaround! Now I am just ticked. I want my truck fixed no more excuses. I have been a loyal buyer of Mopar all my life and this is unacceptable. The dealer told me to simply drive it until the motor blows. I don't think that is a good answer. So I decided to trade it in and they wouldn't even give what was owed on it so I went to another dealer and when they heard the tick they said they wouldn't trade for it until I got it fixed! They said it wasn't worth anything to them with that noise and could not in good faith resell it! So I now have a 40,000 dollar truck that is no good. From C. W. Raney I purchased my 300M new in Dec 2000. Just prior to my warranty going out I began to have a rattle noise in the front end. It has progressively gotten worse. Now when I make a turn right or left the steering wheel catches and the steering wheel is not lined up properly. I felt it was very unsafe and could cause my wife or I to have a serious accident. This car has only 43,000 miles. I just returned from taking it to our local dealership and they inform me that the Rack & Pinion, Tie rods and a Clock Spring in the steering wheel have to be replaced. This will cost me $1800.00 plus tax. I am retired and don't have that kind of money to spend. I will never purchase a Chrysler product again. From D. Fischer - I lost my job approximately three months ago because of a damn Dodge. I was on the flightline and was operating a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 crew cab pickup. I parked the truck and I left the engine running when I got out to inspect an airplane. When I got to the aft end of the airplane I turned and the truck was gone. I apparently didn't set the parking brake and any way how many people set it with an automatic tranny anyway. Apparently from what I am reading it went into reverse on it's own. The truck did the same thing a year ago and the dealer claims they fixed it, but I hear the 04 models have the same problem. I also know the DOT opened an investigation in August of this year. From F. Arvonio - Ever since I bought this 2004 Dodge RAM 2500 HD new I have had a problem with it. When traveling at highway speeds and you hit a bump or expansion joint in the road the vehicles front end and steering vibrate erratically. I have had it back to the dealer where I purchased it and they found a broken shock and replaced it and the vehicle still did the same thing. They then blamed it on the tire pressure after diagnosing it for 6-8 hours and it still did the same thing, now it only rides even harder. I brought it to another dealer, as told by Dodge and they jacked up the air pressure in the tires to 80lbs and stated it may be a problem with the steering box so they ordered a new one. Now they called me and told me that there was just a service bulletin published regarding this problem so I am suppose to take it back to have it checked out. Someone is going to have to die I guess in order for them to do something about this problem. I have been researching it on the internet and I am not the only one that has complained about this. From L. Ebeling - I bought a 2003 Dodge Durango. I had to take it in to see why my gauges said I had no oil pressure to saying I was low. They informed me I need a new or rebuilt engine. Why would a engine with only 74,000 miles need a new engine? From C. Moss - Back in the summer of 2003 I was working at a VERY large Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in Florida. Anyway, because of the large size of the lot, myself and the other Lot Attendant would use a random new car as a "shuttle" to transport ourselves around the lot moving the cars from the rear of the facility to the front main lot after they were cleaned up from shipping. We were using a brand new (at that time) 2003 Dodge Dakota extended cab that had 10 miles on it. Now at this point we have been driving this truck for maybe 20 minutes or so shuttling back and forth driving no more than I would say 15-20mph. On one of the trips back to get another car to bring to the front, I just dropped off my coworker to get the next one, and 4 or 5 technicians flew out of the service shop yelling "GET OUT OF THE TRUCK, ITS ON FIRE!!!" I shut the engine off and jumped out and looked back to see flames dripping (yes dripping) out from under the truck around the general area where the engine meets the transmission. One of the techs had an extinguisher and was able to put it out. Come to find out after it went into the shop, for some reason a fluid line for the transmission was either not attached properly to the tranny at the factory and it was leaking right onto the hot exhaust, catching fire. This was on a BRAND NEW Dakota with 10 miles on it!! What could have happened if I was driving this death trap down the interstate or somebody else for that matter that just purchased it? Needless to say I will never purchase or drive ANY Chrysler vehicle ever. This company needs to either remodel its entire infrastructure or completely shut down. From C. Williams - In May of this year my wife and I purchased a Chrysler 300. How stupid can we be. In 1998 we purchased a Chrysler Sebring. These vehicles are driven primarily by my wife. However, you would have thought we learned our lesson from the Sebring. Everybody I know who has a Sebring has had a problem with the Sebring and of course we did. Despite this, my wife still wanted the 300, because it looks so good. Just like the Sebring. Well just recently tapping noise was coming from the engine of the 300, just as it did from the engine of the Sebring. I told her in May do not buy another Chrysler, but did she listen, of course not. The 300 is in the shop right now and of course they are demanding $500 to tear it down to see where the tapping is coming from. Lucky for me, my last vehicle was a Ford Explorer and my current vehicle is a Ford F-150. She can keep her Chryslers all she wants. But, I think this time she has learned her lesson. From K. Boag - Your website has inspired me to share my story with more than just my family and friends. I think your website is one of the greatest and I personally appreciate the consumer awareness that you bring forth. On April 7, 2006, while driving my 1997 Chrysler Intrepid home from work on Hwy 410 N., in Mississauga, I smelled something funny. Now usually, my first reaction when I smell something is that the car beside me or in front of me has something wrong. Couldn't be me. Well the smell got stronger. I began to wonder. While checking under the hood for signs of what I was thinking was my radiator, I saw nothing. The guy in front of me had applied his breaks; I in turn applied mine and realized I had none. My next thought was my break lines were gone and it was break fluid I smelled. I pulled off onto the shoulder of the highway, slammed it into park so I could stop, and got out. As soon as I was stopped all this nasty black smoke bellowed from the hood. I could also see flames from my wheel well. I had left the car running when I jumped out and within 3 minutes the whole car was gone. I was very grateful the children weren't in the back seat. They would not have survived. The fire department believed the fire started in the engine and in turn burnt out the break lines and eventually the rest of the car. From G. McCue - I currently own a 03 Dodge Ram 2500, quad cab ,4X4. I had to have both upper ball joints replaced at around 32000 miles back in early 2004. It is now June, 2005 and so far this month I have had to replace a drive shaft universal, and now I am told that I need to replace my upper ball joints again. Also, both front axle universals are shot and need to be replaced. The last time I replaced the ball joints, the dealership told me that if I wanted it covered under warranty, I had to use Mopar parts so, here I am again in the same situation, only this time the warranty has expired. I went to my local parts store and they were unable to find after market parts for me. My question for you is what is going on here? More importantly, why does Dodge make junk parts with no grease fittings. The reason I upgraded to the full size Ram a couple of years ago is because I was nearly in a bad accident when the ball joint in my Dakota let go and the wheel almost fell off my truck. It seems my problem is I have been buying trucks based on style and not substance. Well, no more, Dodge can kiss my ass goodbye. Furthermore, anyone and everyone I have the opportunity to tell my story to is going to hear it. Thank you! From J. Anderson - I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, 6cyl, automatic with less than 42000 miles. I bought this truck new and it has been strictly a street vehicle, has had all required services performed, has never been taken off road and has never had a trailer hitch (let alone pulled a trailer). I've had numerous problems including excessive tire wear and a leaky EEC system which have been irritating. Now, with less than 42000 miles the transmission has started slipping in first gear. I took it to the shop and they informed me that it needs a new transmission, which they will gladly provide at a cost of $1700.00. I am now finding out that this problem is as common as sewer rats. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that this truck is falling apart this soon. So much for "Ram Tough". I had a Chevy Chevette back in college that out performed this thing endurance wise. Please tell me there is some legal recourse, the dealer just tells me the 36000 mile warranty is out so I'm on my own. I think it's tantamount to a scam on the American public. Just hoping I can sell the thing and buy another Toyota. From M. White - I paid 1200 for a 60000 mile extended warranty for my 2002 Neon. The transmission blew at 62000 miles. I called Chrysler with no help. Now 2 months later I had to replace two front tie rods and the lower control arms need to be replaced. From Y. Hamdi - My parents bought a 2004 Chrysler Intrepid SXT with 25K kilometers for me from here in BC Canada. I am a high school graduate and heard good things about this car from car review sites and my parents encouraged me to buy it because they thought it is a safe car. I have owned it for about 4-5 months and I have went back to the dealership about 12 times for the engine and the air bag light come on. One time I was going down a hill felt that I had lost power steering and the brake pedal became heavy. I saw the engine light was on so I know it shut off buy itself. I had to stop in the middle of the hill and put the car in park and start it again. Now I am trying to sell this piece of junk before the warranty expires and I have to pay for all this or get killed. I am surprised that people have been ripped off on this big of a scale in North America and they just keep getting away with it. From B. Brenneman - My complaint is the fact that my 2002 Dodge RAM 1500 has been at the dealership repair for the last 3 weeks due to that fact that the transmission broke and the truck only has 54,000 miles on it. The engine light came on and when the dealership hooked the truck up to the computer 5 different things were wrong with it because of the transmission which had metal in it. My problem is not only do I use my truck for personal use I use it for work and it is a big inconvenience not having a truck to drive! Then the dealership tells me the reason I have to wait so long is due to the fact that they can not find the seals anywhere in the USA for the truck and that it will be a few weeks yet until I can have the truck back. What, a person tries to buy American made and all the big companies do is mess with US citizens. No wonder people are buying foreign these days. It is sad to say but what used to be American pride is slowly going down the drain because of greed and I don’t care attitudes from companies like Chrysler. I really like my truck but after this mess is over I am not sure I even want to bother with another Dodge or even an American made car or truck. At least when I lay my head down at night, I know I have a clear conscious. From S. Cisewski - I had purchased a '99 Dodge Ram 1500 club cab at the end of 2004. In March of 2005, the transmission went out on me. I had to buy a new one. Just this year, May of 2006, the transmission went out on me again and I had to buy another new one! I am sick and tired of this truck! It only has 69,000 miles on it. When you stop at a red light and them go on a green you have to give it a little time. Every time you stop, and then step on the gas, it seems the truck wants to die. I owe I owe $13,000 on it and it is simply NOT worth it. The motor also seems like it wants to go, I have a baby and I don't feel safe driving this truck around. From L. Bolton - We have a 2001 Grand Caravan, and I have had it fixed so many times that I can't recall them all. I have a stack of papers that make me upset. I have to take time off to work, and the service people don't seem to care. Yesterday was the last straw. I have had a noise in my steering wheel for along time. I have told them and told them and according to them there is never a problem. When I told them there was a horrible noise underneath the front they said it met Chrysler's specs. You want people driving around with loose steering? Well finally on 9/30/03 I took it back, because my friend who also owns one was having nothing but problems with her van, told me that her mechanic who she took it too said to have the sway bar looked at. I had to tell them to look at it, they did and found it needed to be fixed. Not 2 miles down the road I hear the same sound but on the other side. I had to wait for other parts to come in and they found that I needed the right side done with bushings and guess what the other side didn't get new bushings. I'm now hearing a grinding noise and you can feel it. When I told them about the noise in my steering I must be hearing things. Well I can go on and on. My drain valve leaked, my drivers window motor broke twice. My steering still not fixed. Seatbelt light comes on and stays on until I hit a bump, I was told the computer can't find anything wrong. Because the light was not on at that moment. But I should be okay, they reset the codes. My sliding molding keeps falling off, but its fixed, my bumper things inside the slider door fell off. The slider door and sport emblem keeps rusting. I'm fed up. The very first Chrysler minivan we had, the transmission went at 54,000 miles. I take very good care of cars my husband had 211,000 on his last vehicle. I have 23,000 on this and it's a little over 2yrs old. From R. Gobble - My wife has a 2002 Town & Country that just had a complete tranny meltdown (41TE) at 70,000 miles. Mostly moderate speed interstate driving. The dealership wanted $4000.00 to put in a factory transmission with a 12,000 mile warranty ( not the 36,000 mile that a new transmission in a new car comes with. From R. Todd - I own a 2001 Dodge Intrepid and have about 86,000 miles on it. I maintained the vehicle myself, changing the oil religiously every 3000-3500 miles. I never dreamed I would have a problem since I paid good attention to the maintenance of my car. Three weeks ago my car's engine started making an awful rattling sound and my coolant level had decreased. After getting it checked out the mechanic said I would need a new motor, $5000 and that I had coolant in the oil pan. My Dodge dealer and Chrysler corporate said, " sorry about your loss, nothing we can do"! My Dodge now sits in the driveway, useless! I will NEVER buy another DODGE Product! From J. Crosby - My 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager had its 3rd transmission installed at 100,000 miles. We live on the East Coast so there are no steep elevations and we haul no boat or trailer. Our family consists of myself, my wife, and our 9 year old son, so there must be too many suitcases, groceries, etc. to haul. After 40 years of being a Chrysler, Plymouth owner, I have to move on to a more reliable brand of vehicle. From T. Haley - I bought a new 2000 Dodge Intrepid and with only 39,200 miles on it the car stopped running. I took car back to dealer, where I was told that car had oil sludge in motor and that it would be another $350 to take car apart after paying $89 for them to look at it! I don't think a car any car with less then 40k on it should have any problems like this with it. I also own a 91 S-10 Blazer with 153,000 miles on it still drive it every day . This is my first new car and I've changed the oil every 3K-4K MI From D. Cernusca - Very Informative website. With my 1998 Intrepid at 68,000KM transmission had to be completely rebuilt ($2500). Now I am experiencing hard starting, engine ticking after start, RPM increasing at random, second set of front rotors an brakes in a one year period, rapid tire wear, needed new tie rod on passenger side, power door lock trouble, expansion pulley for serpentine belt fell off and last but not least, the transmission is slipping again after 1 yr. First and last Chrysler for me From M. Betz - I bought a 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT with a V6 brand new. I had the truck 8 months and started having brake problems. A mechanic neighbor determined that the passenger side caliper was seizing. It wasn't enough to lock the brake up, just enough to completely wear down the ONE of the two brake pads. This neighbor of mine is a ASE certified mechanic that works full time as a mechanic for Toyota, he's professional. I tried to take it in for service but was told the brakes only had a 12,000 mile warranty. I explained that while I was a little over 12,000 miles, the problem was NOT with the brake pads, but with the brake CALIPERS which should, in fact, be covered. I even pointed out that only one of the brake pads was worn down and if the caliper was functioning correctly both would be worn evenly. The dealer flat out refused to fix my vehicle under warranty. I made several dozen calls to Chrysler and they agreed and flat out refused to help. I explained that the problem was with the caliper, not the pads, and they still wouldn't help. Since the vehicle was new at the time, there were no aftermarket calipers on the market and I had to buy a new one from Chrysler. When my neighbor decided to fix my vehicle for me, it was determined that the slider bolt that holds the brake caliper on and allows the caliper to release was put in cross threaded from the manufacturer. This could have caused a fatal accident if that caliper had ever locked up. I also had steering problems. Occasionally when backing out of my driveway the steering wheel would lock. I vowed to never buy another Chrysler product again. Their customer service is NON EXISTENT and they won't even fix potentially dangerous problems on brand new vehicles. It really hurt me financially, but I had to dump that P.O.S. BTW - I traded it in on a Chevy! Dodge Sucks! From M. Owens - I own a 1999 Dodge Ram Sport 1/2 Ton. Since purchase in 2001 I have replaced the following. Both cylinder heads, both were cracked, the machine shop said that these heads were cast very thin and cracked for no apparent reason. Transmission locked into drive and had to be removed for repair, during further inspection all bands and clutch discs were burned up. Rear differential twice, both times the ring gear detonated. Front differential, Drivers side outer axle snapped twice. A/C Heater blower will work as long as you reach over to the passenger side and pound on the housing under the glove box. Idle air control solenoid valve, replaced 2 so far. Seat belts will not release unless the buckle is pushed in at the same time the release in pressed, seat belt will not retract on there own. Davis - A Chrysler dealership found my resume on line and thinks I would be perfect for a job selling and leasing their cars. I am a software engineer and part time truck driver, so I don't see it but anyway, this was my response: While I appreciate your taking the time to review my credentials, I regret that I cannot work for your company. I have known countless people (including myself) that have had serious problems with Chrysler vehicles, and in traveling the country as a professional driver, I have found in my experience an unusual amount of what are almost exclusively Chrysler vehicles broken down on the side of the road. Extensive websites online, NHTSA reports, and consumer websites serve to reinforce to me the many problems people have had and continue to have, many that have crippled them financially. I have never known one single person that has owned a Chrysler and not had an unusual amount of problems with Chrysler vehicles. Because of the serious concerns I have regarding the quality of the products Chrysler produces, and the fact that I myself would never even consider owning another vehicle built by DaimlerChrysler, I feel that I would not be a good fit for trying to sell Chrysler products to others. I do not understand anything at all about Chrysler's "Inspiration" tagline; With the exception of the Yugo, I can think of no other production vehicle in the last thirty years that has been as consistently unreliable as Chrysler. Thank you for your email, however I respectfully decline. Linda and Larry - Thank you for all the effort and sweat you put into this site. I am purchasing the first new car in many years and was totally serious about the Magnum. I have seen other forum sites which talked about the transmission problems and your site was a total eye opener. Because of your site, I will look elsewhere to spend my hard earned money. I hope others have emailed you with their concerns.
